Hi all, i'm planning on buying a guitar through an online store. my main concern is that i might have to pay monstrous GST and duty rates. to any of you who has imported a guitar from overseas to singapore, did you have to go through customs? approx. how much would it be?

thanks!

EDIT: also, are there any procedures i have to follow upon the arrival of the goods? (eg. go to a certain place to pay before collecting)

GST doesn't vary, and you have to pay 7% once you pass SGD$400 in payment, inclusive of shipping cost.

I get most of my gears from states, big ones at least.
Tax is 7% for anything over usd200.

May i ask where and what are you buying,  probably with these info its much easier for me to estimate.
You can PM me.

Can try contacting Brendon at BGW Guitars (http://www.bgwguitars.com/index.htm). He imports guitars from the states for sale here. Can ask him to source for what you need as I believe he has an extensive network there.
