just out of curiosity, is it possible to RMA modified mylarones?
anyway something really cool happened to my xBi (unmodified)
i can't hear vocals at all!
bass and treble instrumentals are audible, but quality is rubbish. (soundstage affected)
and i know its not my source because i have tried my x3i on my ipod and it works fine!
hence my ipod has become a kbox machine with my xBi  Tongue

I don't think you can RMA modified ones, but your unmodified ones should be able to be RMAed.
