I've actually bought a few vinyls, but due to budget constraints I've not decided on a that...

That's what most do, get the software first. By the time you got your turntable, you don't have to worry about software.  Smiley

it's hard to decide on a good turntable tho... (silly autocorrect function changes T--- T to "that")

Cartridge and phono are transferable so you can still use them even if you upgraded to better turntable. You gain more improvement from either one of the upgrade than a better turntable. Of course the Rega P3 or P5 will be a worthy turntable but you can consider than in future.

Just look for one that's within your budget. Both Rega and Project are known to be budget turntable that perform very well.

Well done! It brings you one step closer. I guess the big artwork on the LPs are hard to resist. Now you don't have to worry about software when you're ready for a turntable.  Cheesy

Glad that it's working for you. Now it's time to change your phono.  Grin Btw, you've not really hear what this cartridge can really do. If you can bring it over to my place, I can help you set up the alignment.

Music never Die

« Reply #43 on: August 29, 2010, 10:16:59 PM »

Slowly  poison by the quality of music you get from the retro black disc.. even from a humble entry level turn table.
Music has more realism, soundstage, intimacy as compared to CD... i can slowly understand what the hype is all about ..

I notice that Another thing that makes or breaks a person interest in enjoying vinyl is the ritual..

A CD playing ritual  -- take CD out of box.. press the eject of the CD .. place CD in.. play.. music..

A Vinyl playing ritual.. Taking the vinyl out of the disc holder with TLC.. ( you don want to scratch it or leave finger prints/oil / grease on teh surface.. ) you perform a quick inspecton... you locate the side you want to play.. placing the disc on the turn table.. you  perform a quick scrub of the disc.. cleaning the stylus.. and finally  lifting the tone arm and then with marks man concentration... dropping the stylus on the track.. and beautiful music next..

If many can get past this ritual to get a song going time and again... the reward IS VERY satisfying....

The ritual is very addictive.  Cheesy Like tea appreciation, it's an art. Make me appreciate music even more. And the sound quality is to die for. Smiley
