The only person I can think of talking to would be Gerry Cox who plays guitar at Molly Malone's ( http://www.molly-malone.com/) - there is a group of traditional Irish musicians who jam with him now and again and one of them plays the banjo. I imagine he would be willing to give lessons, I think Gerry may also play the banjo or be learning.

well, never too old or young to pick up another instrument isn't? Guess piano too expensive for me, not practical. Saxaphone... well have small lungs. Ive been playing guitar for a while, so looking forward to pick up another stringed instrument, and the banjo goes well with guitar too. Clip of the day.. My friend plays the banjo, not that that is much help to you being 1000's of miles away.
It is a brilliant sounding instrument!
Hope you find a teacher and become good at it!
