Hello from Canada!

Hello Folks.

I have just joined so thought I would introduce myself!

My name is Ian, I live in the Pacific Northwest of Canada but emigrated here 11 years ago from the UK.

I have been into HiFi since childhood (late 60's/70's to give you an idea of my age group!) For the past 11 years my life has been one of travel so the home system went to be replaced by headphone based listening, first portable CD players then mini disk through to MP3 (all Sony!)

Over the last few years I turned to the dark side and now run an Apple iPod classic as I love to have 160g of loss-less music with me all the time.
My system has gone through many changes over the past couple of years (mainly due to joining headfi where I go by the name of ianmedium)

Forums are wonderful places to inform..And lighten the wallet!

My current set up is just about perfection for me (though the amp and headphones are still going through burn in) I have ended up with the classic as source,the truly wonderful Meier Corda Stepdance as amplification and Denon AH-D5000's as my main headphone source. This has given me my ideal sound signature, warm but detailed, something I can listen to with ease for hours on end, something that engages me on an emotional level but still satisfies my HiFi thirsts of detail and transparency!

Other headphones I own include AKGk701, Sennheiser IE8's and Etymotic ER4S

I also have the wonderful Stax SR001 Mk2 system which I love as well and use often.

Interconnect LOD's have been up to this point a custom made copper cable for the Stax and Qables silvercab pro for the Stepdance/Classic. I just purchased an ALO SXC cryo 22g LOD to replace the Qable and am very much looking forward to hearing what that does for the set up!

So that is my music system inventory! It has taken a while but I am pretty much there now I think. The only other things that are interesting me are the AlgoRythm Solo and Ortofon Eq7 headphones (in the old days when Vinyl was all there was I loved their cartridges so it would be nice to have something by them!)

Other things Non HiFi, well, I have had a long standing passion for watches, I own a Rolex Milgauss, Vintage Accutron, Omega Constellation double Eagle Thermocompensated quartz and a few others, Though since getting the Milgauss this year I seem to have ended my watch collecting habits!

I love the great outdoors, Banff in the Canadian Rockie Mountains is my favorite place on Earth.

As for work, well I am one of the lucky ones who does what he loves! I am self employed as a consultant.
