what is the price point of FPs where you get the most balanced Value-For-Money (in terms of pure performance)? before law of diminishing marginal returns comes in...

what are the few fountain pens which fulfills the above scenario?

eehh.. I don't think so much. What ever that's $100+ and below is considered a decent price for a FP. And looks plays a very important part in my FP purchase. Yeah it got to be comfortable to be used. However many of my purchase are blind leap of faith. Looks nice so jump into it. Luckily mostly are fairly decent when I get them.

As long as it writes well, and feels good when holding it. And yes.. must not bleed at the tips of course else its gonna be messy when writing.. I find China ones usually do.

This FP is not a full sized one. Its short but not a 'lady's' pen kind off size. Still comfortable with my long fingers..

I find this more similar to the Lamys.. as in tip glide on paper wise. Well.. I can't remember how much I got it for. It was last year but I was just too busy to post something here for a while. All I can tell you is that Lamys are cheaper. This is more like if you want something smaller and you are already sick of using a Lamy .

still using my loyal pelikan m215

feel that the m215 is significantly smoother than lamy safari. which got me wondering how much smoother can it get for a $250 and above FP?

the m215 feels a bit thin for me. yet a thicker pen may most possibly mean greater weight..





it was love @ first sight for me when i first saw this pen. would love to get it eventually!

which FP brands are more value-for-money in general?

i feel for every pen fanatic, it's a must to own at least a translucent FP. it's nice to see the ink in the barrel (:

You can't really put a price on FP writing smoothness. Most of the time, its more like paying for the design. Though generally, for a similar brand comparison, their higher end ones have better quality tips.

If you want to compare tip smoothness, you should try out different brands instead. I find that it varies more between different brands than different models of a same brand.

ah man!! ... i stay near JP.. I saw the sale.. infact I think it was for a few days.. I didn't go in because I thought it was sale on books only.

That's the pilot prera. Personally, i think it's overpriced because of the cheap ss nib used in the pen. I believe it's the same nib as the one used in the pilot 78g and that pen costs about $10. This pen is approx 7 times more than the 78g. It does comes in a large variety of colors and trims.
