yea i'm seriously contemplating on getting these instead of the 3s but the hearsay that it requires an amp to drive these kind off bothers me..

they don't NEED an amp - but an amp helps clear up all the nonsense portable players give out due to the sensitivity of them. If you use high quality rips, there should be less of a problem.

certainly do hope that's the case. probably wait for more impressions before taking the plunge. Smiley you're definitely getting them?

sounds like it, got clearance from the CFO... going to send my SF5EB for RMA too, so sounds like a good time - can use them for a gym rig when they return too.

26? Turned that right before the birthday deals came out...

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking the end of the week, especially once FreQ confirms their pricing.

The website is up...

But this is a bit weird.. I thought FreQShow was the triple driver design, right?

Quote
With its three-driver/speaker design, it has separated all of the low, mid and high frequencies for you.  This has the best sound reproduction that we offer at this time.

Specs:

Noise Isolation: 26db
Sensitivity: 122 dB @ 1mw
Frequency response: 20 Hz -18 kHz
Impedance: 21 ohms
Driver: Three balanced armature drivers with a passive three-way crossover

But on this page...
http://www.freqonline.com/musicmakers.htm

Quote
The FreQ Show – Mid-level: Dual speaker design (Click Here)

Pricing is US$250 for the FreQShow.. which is only 10 bucks more than the SuperFREQ?!

So which is it?

Also interesting that there is a choice of crossover

Quote
Regardless of the model purchased, the Music Makers line utilizes a braided detachable cable that is designed for an “Over the Ear” fit using a memory wire. It also uses a different 3-way crossover than our Music Lovers line.  It has been specifically designed for use with amplifiers for musician’s monitor packs along with sound engineers using mixing boards.  This line provides a very “warm” feeling to the music and is not as sensitive as our Music Lovers line.  Seeing how Mp3 and DVD players do not put as much amps, this line can really hold up under the most demanding conditions.

Just because you may not be a musician, does not mean that you still can’t enjoy the benefits of Music Makers line.  We will also allow you to choose the crossover you would like to use.  If you are only using your FreQs for recreational use, such as your Mp3 or DVD player, we recommend using the Music Lovers crossover.  This way, you will get the upgraded cable and detachable technology, but still maintain the sound signature you may be looking for.

Which would you guys choose?
