Let me get started.

I was really hungry in Tokyo and ordered fruit platter at 11pm in Hotel Nikko.

The bill was US$350 (before taxes of about 15%)

This was in '99.

1 Banana
2 Slice Apple
2 Slice Orange
2 Slice WaterMelon
2 Slice Pineapple
2 Slice Honeydew
2 Plums

I think I can eat fruits for half a year for this much $$$.

Well, it's one of Tokyo's top hotels. Was too hungry so I ordered. Really regretted it. Lucky the money did not come out of my pocket. If not I will be eating grass for weeks.

It was a business trip. But still had to explain when I submitted my claims. No one ordered fruit platter from the hotel before. After my case, fruit platter is banned. LOL

Not that I know of, but all new staff are told to avoid any food at that particular hotel. Smiley If not, they'd need to check the price before ordering after my blunder

Nowhere near the 350USD fruit platter... but me and my friends once had 4 durians for a whopping 180SGD at Geylang. If I had arrived earlier I would have told my friends to go elsewhere, but their story was that they were so stunned by the price quoted that they couldn't think straight and the option of going elsewhere somehow disappeared from their minds.

So anyway, the durians were really good (they had better be!), but the price was also really painful. Imagine what I could have gotten at Jaben for the price of those 4 durians!!?  Shocked

Paid $60 for a single durian at 717 Trading at Serangoon before. It was really heavenly. But then I am a die hard durian fan.
