Hi all,

I have an elective module now on soundscape design, and one of my assignments is:

2: Extreme Soundscapes
This is a collaborative assignment. You will be assigned to work in pairs and submit together. Visit an artificial soundscape (i.. a sound installation) and a natural soundscape of your own choosing. For this exercise, do not choose everyday soundscapes but search for two that are ‘extreme’ in some sense; they may contain rare sound elements and phenomena, they may be ephemeral or difficult to reach physically and so forth. Study them carefully through active listning and observation. Make sound recordings and from these, edit representative selections of no more than 10 minutes in total duration (.g. 5+5 min). Discuss the two soundscapes in an essay of between 800 and 1200 words. Attend to common and specific elements involved, such as acoustics, sound elements and phenomena, social interaction of humans within spaces, sustainability of soundscapes and so forth. Submit text and select recordings.

I was considering visiting one of those audiophilic shops in adelphi with the "perfect" sound systems and mind-blowing speakers, but i'm not sure if i can test them and make some recordings for free... Anyone of you know of any shops that may be nice enough to accede my request?

Thanks!
