Hi Jabenites,
Passion… that’s the word that has been niggling me the last couple of days. But on looking closer, I sometimes wonder if it is obsession or is it really passion.
The Wright brothers… were they passionate or were they obsessed? The “want” to fly and soar above the clouds must start with an obsession first isn’t it? Looking back, if there were no people obsessed with wanting to capture sight or sounds or desire to achieve, would we have all the nice little gadgets that we take much for granted.
I remember a brilliant television series, “Connections” which showed how the various disciplines merged and from there, we see things that we take very much granted for. I just searched as I am writing and guess what… this series is in spoken off in Wikipedia,
http://tinyurl.com/55eqm5 I also note that they have been made into DVD’s… mmm… perhaps we should just get a set and we can watch it on a Friday.
Closer home to our passion, imagine if sound could not be capture and reproduced… would speakers and headphones be available. Would we be meeting and chatting with the friends we made because of this passion?
Lately, there’s been a spate of perturbing activity on our forums and it’s somewhat difficult to understand why. Ranting and raging on the forum… I understand the disappointment when things don’t turn out well and I would much rather see people working out their differences privately. Who knows, one might just end up working together in a same environment someday. We all make mistakes and we all learn. I’ve made my fair share and was it ever nice that I was forgiven. So my friends, if at all possible, make up and start from a new platform.
Looking over the posts… arguments are made for some pricing structure in the classifieds threads. Ideally this would be nice, but realistically it is impossible.
My pet obsession… the economy… it’s terribly worrisome, yet in spite of the gloom, someone said this to me, “…If people are less busy, perhaps they will have more time to listen to music …” Mmmm, a nice clean look at the situation isn’t it?
