Well, I have just came back from my recent trip to Vietnam and have finally gotton off my lazy A*rse to post some pictures I took during my stay there.
To be honest, I am quite shocked at the general cost of living there. Inflation has risen in the past years at a rate of approx 15 %. Meat which cost $50,000 Dong 2 months ago is now selling for $70,000. Which is an increase of 40%.
By it's own estimate, the affluent 20 percent of the population is seven times as well off as the poorest 2 percent.
By now you would have thought this would be a all doom and gloom kind of thread but I can say I enjoyed myself throughly. Enjoy the pictures. Comments, positive or negative are encouraged.
I will post them in order how they were experienced followed by a short caption.

The first day there @ Banh Thanh Market. Its basically a Tourist spot with has food, shopping and basically everything you will need.

I saw a few locals buying these and being a believer that it's always good to try what the locals buy anyway... Pinapple Tarts.

Sorry couldn't resist taking a bite. The pastry is much harder than what we get here akin to a thin biscuit.
Here is another Tourist dive where they produce handicrafts using eggshells... Although I must say, the workmanship is amazing... Exorbitant prices but amazing none the less...

And the finished products.

Mekong Delta & Cu Chi Tunnels next...
It was a real sunny day then, although the weather is a real Jekyll and Hyde. Many fellow tourists were drenched by the rain and very unpredictation weather. Please note that pictures are not in sequence...

We had a boat ride and this girl was just so sweet...

Local product made from a Coconut producing Island...

Last but not least, food... A topic close to our heart and one which I enjoyed. Local street food at it's best IMO.

A staple food, it costs about 90 cents and is fantastic. Sorry about the blur lens. It was really cold and the lens kept condensing.

Amazing crab noodles. Enuf said... About 2 dollars Sing...

Small kueh which tastes a lot like the local kueh we get here with a hint of ginger...

Budget French Food @ Augustins... Do make reservations or head down early...

A local fruit which reminds of a cross between a rose apple and a tomato... It is really small, around the size of a loggan.

Local Doughnuts, they taste like "Beh Seh Toh". But with the feeling on the outside instead.

Expensive Yummy Yogurt clone... like 6 dollars per order...

Famous Vietnamese Spring Rolls...

My Fav so far... Vietnamese take on Char Teow Kway...

You do not dip the sauce in but pour the contents of the sauce plate over... Realllllyy Yummy! They don't use the same white carrot cake as us but use rice cakes instead.
Thats all for now.. There are a lot more photos but Photobucket is being an A*rse right now...
