hate to be a wet blanket but i wouldnt want to hear that just before my race starts. lol if you delve deeper, it's ALMOST saying uhh, you prolly wont get first place (cause everyone wants that right), but whatever you get, it's what you deserve..

haa okay don't flame me! but to be fair, whatever words a coach says before a race is sure to soothe the nerves.

Something i overheard in the store which i want to put into practice..

"You don't try your best, you DO your best." - Someone whom i believe has been through many tough times in life and most importantly, survived to share the lessons learned.

Went to visit my grandparent's grave last Sunday and a particular quote caught my eye.

'In love, there are no boundaries.
In memory, love lives forever.'
- A person whom i don't know but i feel he/she believes a lot in love.

coming from a sportsman who has gone through countless wins and losses. the ones that you lose are the ones that you remember the most. and when you lose by 0.01s, let's just say that it ain't pretty. And with that said the best athletes are able to pick themselves up and move on, because yesterday was history.

Ah stumbled upon this thread... This quote is so striking, that was more or less EXACTLY what my coach said to me after a certain academic competition. Very painful because I just missed it by that ~1%. But it did burn in very good lesson in me.

I remember quite some time back....old coach was like pushin the hell out of everyone...even before every round correcting your moves....just makes me think of the following really touches me;

"If there's magic in boxing, it's the magic of fighting battles beyond endurance, beyond cracked ribs, ruptured kidneys and detached retinas. It's the magic of risking everything for a dream that nobody sees but you."- PAUL HAGGIS, Million Dollar Baby

"After knocking out Michael Moorer-Sure the fight was fixed. I fixed it with my right hand." - George Foreman (1994)

"There seems only one way to beat George Foreman: shell him for three days and then send the infantry in." -Hugh Mcllvanney (1974)

I love to watch george foreman box. Grin...hmmmm Undecided...strange, now that i mentioned it, i really missed coming home with blue blacks, bruises, dislocations...etc....not that i like the injury,...but it's the feeling... Undecided
