Alrighty, here's a rough comparison between my stock Denon D2000 and Habba's Markl-modded Woodified D2000. More content may be added and edited in the future. Here's my take so far...

The modded cans are definitely much heavier, due to the dynamats inside. The expanded pads certainly improved isolation and its more snug to your ears.

Test Setup:

Desktop PC -> Zero DAC[Sun HDAM] -> Audio Technica AT-HA20

Media Files are either high-quality mp3 or FLAC.

Song Impressions:

The Crystal Method - Born too slow [Big-beat]
More forward mids. bass does not go as deep as the stock. Of course the bass boom is very much controlled.

Hirano Aya - God knows... [J-Rock]
Guitar riffs are more pronounced. Sounds cleaner. Drumset lacks boom to sound real-like. Bleached from bassboom. Trebles are richer.

S..NS - Forbidden Love - [Acoustic]
Hands down winner. Much richer tonality in piano and strings. Very very instrumental.
Piano doesn't sound as rich for stock, but strings doesn't lose much.
No boominess to detract the song(the tuba?). Stock sound too boomy for this track.

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score [Symphony Metal]
Lacks boom to make the drums sound lifelike. Drums sound hollow. Lack of boom to convey the mood of the song make the song sound epic.
Much richer tonality in strings. Vocals stand out more.
Lead guitars sounds richer.

YUI - Rolling Star [J-Rock]
Stock sounds better. Vocals not sounding as nice to me, seems to lose some 'body' in it. Vocals sounded higher-pitched.
Lost the sense of rock. More details.

Pendulum - The Tempest [Drum'And'Bass]

Markl mod : Exhibits low-moderate bass amounts, tight. Much more emphasis in the synths. Lost the feel of the Drum'and'Bass.

One Republic - Apologise [Pop]
Stock A bit too boomy for this track. Instruments have better tonality and better details and seperation. Song suits mod better.
Mod has just the right amount of boom for this song.

Fat Boy Slim - The Joker (feat. Bootsy Collins) [Pop]
Markl mod suits this light-hearted track a lot! Just enough bass without extra boominess to cover details.
Vocals stand out more, richer.
Stock made the the bassline synths stand out more and louder, more enjoyable for me.

[New addition]
m-flo - she loves the CREAM [J-Pop]
Very very balanced sounding in the mod! Just enough bass and bass impact to convey the mood yet much more detailed and cleaner vocals! Stock will sound too boomy for some people.

It seems that the stock D2000 does a better job when bass is essential in the music, but for tracks that focus more on vocals and acoustic instruments, the markl-mod sounds better. I would love to try a recabled D2000 without the dynamats though, it sounds like the best of both worlds.

Please do!! I don't exactly have stellar ears either. This is my first time having such a long sessions of critical listening and nitpicking comparisons. Can't say this is my forte.
