I tried using the Westone 3 with triflanges and it muffled up the whole sound signature. Using complies was better for me.

Hmm. It was David who recommended the triflanges and I used them because I have a pair on my Atrio. They won't let me try using a new pair of complys. Sad

I think its the fitting issue.

I tried it first time with olives but it has no bass too... Till I switch it back to the old-standby, the silicone tips, than... The bass came out.

I auditioned the Westone 3 last week. For me the complies didn't had a good seal... olives worked best. The difference was really great. W3's sound is really dependent on the seal. Listening to the W3 I felt that it has solved the 'issues' I had with the UM2, firstly being the slight shrilly highs and next having a more natural sounding bass. The W3 isn't as forward as the UM2 was to me and that made it less fatiguing. The soundstage was noticably wider also. The bass was a great welcome especially. Coming from the Atrios, I have learnt to appreciate a deep reaching natural bass, and I must say the W3 does reach to the low frequencies that the Atrios does. But what the W3 does differently for the bass is that it has a quicker attack and is more defined than the Atrios's bass.

I have also tried it out with a movie, Kite Runner, that I have loaded on my iPhone. The W3 is really well suited for movies (as it was advertised for). It replicates the 'dolby surround' sort of feeling that we are well familiar. Compared to the Atrios the W3 is a much better candidate for movie watching as it has better mid reproduction which movie audio mastering have a biased towards.

To conclude, I would say W3 is really well tuned for "personal listening" and is a good choice to consider if looking for a pair of earphones that does good for music and also movies too.

Hahaha well the Atrios is a keeper for now. Can't afford any audio upgrades for now.
