I just want to say that this is one hell of a package. The amplifier section is the most impressive in Compass: it sounds clean, detailed and transparent, a bit to the warm side. As for now, it trumps every portable amp that I have ever heard and even my previous Zero.

x2... this package is magic. It trumps the zero in so many way it's no brainer I sold it off just to buy this. Good thing I did that. The background is extremely dark, and I haven't even had full burn-in or tweaked the sound to make it perfect yet.

With some review saying the amp section is better than the EF1, I feel much better now. Haha!

Whenesday is not too pleased to hear that!

 Cry
get the compass too then.

Well, your Denon may prefer the EF-1 to the Compass, so hold your horses.

You evil man. Cheesy

On another note, I've been talking to Kingwa for the next possible upgrade step and it was a bit surprising. He recommended to get a better DAC instead of a better amp. I guess I know where I'm going for in the future.

Oh well. Since the Compass has exceeded my expectation, the next step for me would be to woody and recable my D2000 I guess.

That is a potential end-game (for the time being) SS setup for me but Kingwa did tell me that the DAC19MK3 sounds 'neutral'. I'm honestly not sure whether that's something I want.

OTOH, the Paradisea+ and Havana NOS DACs from MHDT look very delicious also.

according to kingwa earlier conversation with me. What he think of high end equipment is that it should be neutral and be monitor like. Therefore all his higher end dac such as the reference 1 is built to be like that. And there are many positive reviews and feedbacks about the reference 1.
Therefore i took a leap of faith  Lips Sealed

There a mass order in one of the local forum at a pretty cheap price from what i see.
And Kingwa no longer under-declare to price due to some unhappiness with the DHL over the mishandling and compensation of some damaged compass last time
Therefore, if u ship 2 compass..most likely u will get hit with the 7% import GST compared if u ship 1 alone

I can't wait for your impressions with those. The DAC19 doesn't get a lot of exposure here.
