I'm actually considering on Zero with HDam or Audio G.D Compass. Want to know more confirmation from people here before considering it.

I might want to get a creative sound card in order to make use of the optical and the EAX 5.0.

if you're getting the compass, you're probably better off using the compass vis usb.

usb is not 16bit.. its 480mbps... which can potentially support higher sampling rates than 16bit =p

and no jitters no jitters.. do a double blind test and prove it Tongue even data measurements can't detect any bit errors from jitters (over spdif)

ok i'll believe that if audio-g.d compass is a usb2.0 device Smiley

edit: ok nevermind. seems that it depends on the chip used. later then i check.

But i would love to make use of the EAX 5.0 from Creative. But regarding about Audio G.D Compass, i might want to wait for more remarks from jabenite and the availability of this unit in Singapore. Will see how it really goes.

Regards
Mark

P.S I wanted to get Zero with HDAM mode already, but when i heard about Compass, i hesitated and plan to wait.

You're going to use EAX 5.0 out from your creative to speakers? And then for headphone listening optical out to your DAC?

If i'm going to have EAX 5.0 through compass, most likely is through optical since usb will bypass any sound card.. With optical, the sound will need to bypass Creative sound card, which contain EAX 5.0 and then transfer to optical out to Compass for better clarity.

I was wonder would Headphone be possible to make use of EAX 5.0. If it is possible, Optical will be the best result than USB.. If i were to use USB, i wouldn't want to  buy a sound card.

Why I asked you the question was because you should make sure that the optical out still uses the EAX5.0 system - i.. if the data passes thru the creative DAC to the EAX5.0, or EAX5.0 to the optical to the DAC of choice.

I'm not entirely sure how this works, but it'll help to make sure you know what you want is possible.

I have a Creative XtremeMusic, EAX features can be output to the digital out of the soundcard. For gaming, switch to gaming mode. For playing music, switch to audio creation mode, turn off all EAX effects and turn on bit-matched playback.

Yeap, Kchew have that kind of setup which i wanted.. That is why i'm aiming for that.. is like the best of both world.. usage of EAX 5.0 in sound card with clarity from External Dac..

Ooh... that's cool. The EAX features don't need a decoder like DTS right? IIRC, things like DTS can't be decoded by the Zero. I could be wrong, but just one thing to make sure before you make the jump.

How is the SQ when using a coax or digital from a X-Fi XtremeGamerwith the Compass? Possible to use USB as well?
