hi guys!

(bear with me while i go through A bit of the boring stuff...)

a few years back whilst in the army i had to give up my beloved guitar playing. since then i've been itching to get back on guitars! i started off as a classical player, and then moved on to electric in much later part of my guitar playing years.

and now, i'm ready to pick up what i've left behind!

primarily i'll be going into acoustic, and specifically... fingerstyle guitar. therefore i'm looking for a new acoustic guitar!

until now the guitars i've browsed is the Yamaha APX/CPX 500 and 700... i've seen the Lee Guitars but oh dear are they expensive. Therefore i would like to ask if anyone has any recommendation for a good and affordable acoustic guitar! my budget is around $600-$700...

i like bright guitars but with some hints of warmness, so i tend to go towards higher gauges strings. but at the same time preferbly one that isn't too stiff.. i had a APX-4a once and it made me tear everytime i tried to do bends on it.

thanks in advance!!

get a maestro. The elite series are around your budget.Get the grand auditorium body (EA3) its made for fingerstyle, solid red cedar top with rosewood back and sides, so it should be pretty warm.check out their site http://tinyurl.com/cypvy7
I own an EJ3 and i think it sounds great.

maybe soft.com.sg will have more resources on guitars and other instruments.
maestro guitars had been receiving rather good reviews for it's price point.
own a made in korea takamine, going to get an action setup soon (the made in koreas one are within your budget, those made in japan ones will cost at least $1000),
budget solid tops include the cort earth, or custom acoustics
actually there's too many of them.
of course like earphones, you'll need to try them to know which one is for you.

oh my there's too many shops around:
luthermusic at excelsior for yamaha, cort and takamine (http://www.luthermusic.com/index.php?module=WB_GroupPageGen&Gid=2010000 prices available)
davis guitar at peninsula (http://davisguitar.com/) for takamine and fina
guitar77 at peninsula (http://www.guitar77.com/brands.html) for lee guitar and maton
maestro/zen at excelsior, peninsula and esplanade (http://www.maestroguitars.com/) for maestro
sweelee at bras basah (http://sweelee.sg/) for ibanez acoustics, epiphone, cort and a lot more
ranking at bras basah opp sweelee for seagull, jack & danny, tgm and a lot more within your budget
sinamex at parklane mall (http://www.sinamex.com/store/store.html) for simon & patrick and taylor
citymusic at peace centre (http://citymusic.com.sg/index.html) for custom acoustic and ovation (features carbon fibre back)
yamaha at tampines mall, thomson plaza and plaza singapura for yamaha

sorry for not recommending any specific brand. there's just too many to choose from.
